Table Sleuth - Cozy Deduction Puzzles
Every level has exactly one solution. No guessing, ever.
Someone left little things on the table: a cup, a key, a candle. All you have are notes about where they were, and every note is true. Put each object back so that every note holds. It starts gently. It does not stay gentle.
No crime, no timer, no score, no lives. Just you, a table and a very satisfying green tick.
Play it above, in your browser. That is today's free table from Table Sleuth Daily, a new one every day and none of them in this game. If you like it, the download below is the full game for Windows, and it goes much deeper.
130 levels, six ranks and a bigger table
- Trainee (4 levels): 3 x 3 to 4 x 4 table, 3-4 objects, 4-9 cards, new cards step by step, no "what if" needed. The cafe, in the morning.
- Detective (30 levels): 5 x 5 table, 7 objects, 12-20 cards, 10-20 "what if" steps. The cafe, in the morning.
- Inspector (30 levels): 6 x 6 table, 8 objects, 15-23 cards, 25-37 "what if" steps. The study, by day.
- Chief Inspector (24 levels): 6 x 6 table, 9 objects, 17-27 cards, 5-14 chained "what if" steps. Evening at grandma's.
- Master Detective (16 levels): 6 x 6 table, 9 objects, 18-27 cards, 20-29 chained "what if" steps. The night library.
- Grandmaster (10 levels): 6 x 6 table, 9 objects, 18-24 cards, 30+ chained "what if" steps. The starlit terrace.
- The Long Table (16 levels): 7 x 7 table, 11 objects, 25-33 cards, 7+ chained "what if" steps. Morning again, a side branch with a bigger table.
A rank is one narrow band of difficulty, in mixed order, so Master Detective does not warm up: its first level is as deep as its last. The ranks are the ladder.
The 10 Grandmaster tables are there for people who want to find out how deep this goes. We measured how many steps of logic they need. We do not yet know how long they take a strong player, so if you solve one, please tell us.
Fair by construction
- A program counted the solutions of every level: exactly one each.
- A solver then went through every level by logic alone, no trial and luck, and measured how much deduction it needs. That measure sets the rank.
- Hard levels can need "if the cup were here, these two notes would clash, so it is not here". That is logic you can follow, and the hint shows it.
Hints that teach
- First press: where to look.
- Second press: the step, and why it works.
- Third press: the game does it for you.
Cozy, and kind to you and your computer
- The ranks follow the day: morning cafe, a study by day, evening at grandma's with soft rain, a night library with crickets, a starlit terrace.
- A quiet melody and nature sounds, with separate switches for music, nature and effects.
- Your board is saved after every move. Undo, restart and "not here" marks are always there.
- Hover over a card to read it in plain words. Cards show a tick or a cross, so green and red are not the only signal.
- The game redraws only when something changes, so it should stay quiet on a laptop.
- No internet, no accounts, no ads, no tracking.
Good to know
- System: Windows, 64-bit. English only for now. Mouse, with optional keyboard shortcuts.
- Display: played and tested on a 1920 x 1080 screen at 100 % scale. The window sizes itself to your screen when the game starts, F11 gives fullscreen, and wider screens get more room instead of black bars. For other common screen sizes we checked the calculations and rendered pictures, not real monitors. If something looks wrong on yours, please tell us in the comments and we will fix it.
- Windows warning: the game is not code-signed, so Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Click "More info", then "Run anyway". The download includes the SHA-256 fingerprint of the game file, so you can check it is genuine.
- AI: code, graphics, sounds and texts were made with AI help (Claude), and a human played and judged it. The logic of every level is verified by code, not taken on trust.
